What is the Hall of Ministries? For the Biennial Mission Summit this June in Overland Park, Kansas, we will be introducing a “Hall of Ministries.” The Hall of Ministries will highlight our different ministries and partners, along with others interested in exhibiting and sharing their organizations with American Baptist Churches USA. The Hall of Ministries set-up will incorporate the theme of the event, “Share the Journey,” and will serve to lead people through the various ministries of ABC along a distinctive path, with signposts directing them along the way.
In a central location of the Hall of Ministries, there will be a Ministry Square, around which exhibitors in the Hall of Ministries will be strategically placed along a path creating a “Journey” through the hall. The Ministry Square will serve as a town hall and meeting area, where Mission Summit 2015 attendees may gather, meet to hold conversations, network and connect with one another amongst tables and seating. There will be coffee, tea and light snacks available in the Ministry Square, along with a charging station for cell phones and other electronics. The Ministry Square is the perfect meeting place for friends and church members to reconnect with one another!
Near the Ministry Square, there will be an information kiosk staffed by knowledgeable persons who can listen to participants’ questions about different ministries, interest areas and passions, and direct participants to the right booth or person to help them get connected and find what they need. Participants can also look for staff and volunteers identified wearing “Ask me” button to allow them to learn more about their interests - church planting, stewardship, Women’s Ministries, chaplaincy, international missions, etc.
When participants check-in at the registration booth, they will be given a passport that will help them to Share the Journey. They will get their passport stamped by listed exhibitors, and can enter to win prizes upon receiving stamps from all participating vendors.
Our goal is to make the Hall of Ministries a place where Biennial Mission Summit participants will come to learn about current ministries and make even more connections in 2015 with people serving different ministry organizations. We also want American Baptists to learn about the history of ABC and the various organizations that are a part of it, and get excited about initiatives and priorities we have into the future. Booths will be placed in a way that promotes movement and a journey, weaving throughout the Hall of Ministries.
Above all, we want Biennial Mission Summit attendees to be engaged, make valuable connections, and see what organizations are doing—things that can make a difference in their lives.
